Lecture on Future Development of Catering Industry by Distillery Professional Guests

On the morning of March 28, Professor Li Dagang, a veteran leader of the catering industry in Xiamen, visited the International College, bringing a wonderful lecture on the theme of future development of catering industry to the students majoring in hotel management, aimed at helping them to broaden their knowledge of the industry and understand the development trend of catering industry. The lecture was presided over by Professor Wu Weiping, Vice Secretary of Overseas Education/International College, and was attended by hospitality major tutors and the relevant major students.

 


Secretary Wu first warmly welcomed Mr. Li's arrival and introduction to his professional experience to the students. Mr. Li, a Taiwanese, used to study in the United States and owned several restaurants in Seattle and Taipei. As a well-known predecessor of catering industry, Mr. Li has rich experience of more than 40 years. He served as executive chef in Shanghai Westin Hotel and Xiamen Amy Hotel, and joined the preparations of Panji Holiday Hotel, Westin Hotel and other five-star hotels in Xiamen to develop excellent catering for hotels. At present, Mr. Li serves as executive chef of Drifting Kitchen, and consultant and instructor of most Western restaurants in Xiamen.


 


In the lecture, Mr. Li first elaborated the concept of executive chef, explained the catering system management. Combining his personal experience, he decomposed the essence of catering management layer by layer. He focused on the changes in the catering industry in the past ten years. The catering industry is facing the situation of abandoning the traditional business model and the new watershed. Through the analysis of the actual data, he indicated that the catering industry will face the talent shortage in the future. During the lecture, students actively interacted with each other, and raised many hot issues, such as unmanned restaurants and intelligent restaurants. The students also discussed the future career development direction with Mr. Li, and he gave practical guidance on students' career planning. Teacher Li is modest, he deepened the students' understanding of the catering industry with touching stories, and stressed the attitude of caterers. His rich experience, full interaction and witty explanations left a deep impression on all the teachers and students. The lecture ended with warm applause.
