On the afternoon of November 26, International College (IC) conducted fire extinguisher operation drills at the square west to Kunluan Building on Xiang’an Campus.

Nov. 9 2021 is the 30^th “119” National Fire Protection Day. Centered on the theme of “Implement Fire Protection Responsibility, Prevent Safety Risks”, IC held the fire drills to further improve student’s fire safety awareness and enhance fire prevention skills.

The drills included professional explanation and fire extinguisher operation. Ye Han from the Security Office of Xiang’an Campus, introduced in detail the types, application scope and use of fire extinguishers, as well as fire safety knowledge, such as fire extinguishing precautions, stressed the importance of learning basic knowledge of fire safety, and demonstrated to students how to properly use carbon dioxide fire extinguisher and dry powder fire extinguishers.

After the explanation, all the students conducted practical firefighting under the guidance of the staff. In groups of four, students took turns to fight fire in an orderly manner and carried out collaborative firefighting drills, mastered the use of fire extinguisher, and put the theoretical knowledge into practice. After the practical experience, the students said the fire drill experience made them deeply aware the necessity of the learning firefighting and self-rescue knowledge, and mastering the use of fire extinguishers. Hopefully, everyone can learn firefighting knowledge and reduce the occurrence of fires. Start from ourselves to take precautions before they happen.

Safety is no small matter, and there’s only more precaution. This fire drill combined the theoretical knowledge of fire safety with vivid operational practice, enabling teachers and students to contact, know and understand fire protection with zero distance, improved the ability and level of self-prevention and self-rescue, further enhanced the awareness of fire safety, and laid a food foundation for creating a harmonious, safe and stable campus environment.
