Seminar Hosted by University of Newcastle Held in International College

On October31 afternoon, aseminarhosted by University of Newcastle was held in the C305 classroom in Kunluan building. Dr. Tony Drew, the sub-decanal of the Business Institute in University of Newcastle, gave a lecture in the seminar. Students majoring in accountant, finance, and hotel managementof the “Britain-Australia 2+2” program in International College attended the seminar.


 


Dr. Tony Drew firstly introduced the general information of University of Newcastleto students. The university, which was established in 1965, takes a lead in the university education and has ranked top 1% among theuniversity in the world. There are more than 40,000 internal students in the university, including international students from over 100 countries. Then, Dr.Tony Drew showed the colorful school life in Australia through various photos and videos. The campus locates in Newcastle in the NSW state of Australia, 150 kilometers away from the north of Sydney. This beautiful coastal city with a pleasant climate also has convenient transport so that it’s only 2 hours to arrive in Sydney by taking train or car. The excellent learning and living environment appeals quantities of students overseas to study and experience Australian customs here.

 

For the2+2 program students, Dr. Tony Drewintroduced the entrance requirements of their business instituteemphatically, such as English level and application and so on. The business institute of UoN has the world-class specialty curriculum that has won AACSB certification, the one which only 5% of business schools in the world have won. The business curriculum in UoN has a strong practicality and a wide range of major, including finance, accountant, management, etc., with the diplomas of great value. After finishing the curriculum in China, program students could choose to continue to learn in UoN for 2 years to study 2 majors at the same time. Students will incept the bachelor of business after graduating from UoN, which will do great help to their future job hunting.

Students have had a comprehensive understanding of University of Newcastle in Australia by this seminar, laying the foundation for future study. At the end of the seminar,students asked questions about the curriculum, scholarship, graduation rate, and job support. Dr. Tony Drewanswered those questions carefully and patiently.
