个人简介 Profile

作为一个曾任教于六个学校,担任三个学校的外文系系主任,长年从事国际交流与英语教学的我来说,在这二十多年来的事业生涯,使我比一般老师还经历更多。这些宝贵的经验,我不想藏私,只想分享。 

厦门大学国际学院是目前中国办得最好的国际学院。种类繁多的复合课程具备富弹性的课程规画与考核,紧密的与国外合作大学相结合。由于我的专业背景与经历,在厦门大学国际学院的第一年就承蒙领导看重担任英语组的协调人。主要负责课程重新修整,招募老师的面试评量,观察新老师的教学水平与协调各种教学要求与解决老师们教学困难的工作。

在这里第一年(2015-2016)负责大学二年级雅思考试的听说读写。第二年(2016-2017)是负责大一新生的发音与演说,学术论文写作,还有教育研究所预科的课程。基本上,在国际学院内都尽量用英语上课,学生也都从听不懂到渐渐能适应。第三年以后,专注于英语的听说读写。目前教大二的综合英语,特别是口语。 

其实,学生英文学很多,但是说的不够好,在国际商务与交流上,很吃亏。因此,只要遇上有耐性又有方法的好老师,持续不断的鼓励与支持,加上不断的练习,他们很快就能说得一口流利的英语与写出地道的英语沟通文字。此外,国际学院的学生利用英语与人交流与吸收新知也应该变成一种习惯,这需要老师的引导与示范。

现在大部分的大学强调理论必须配合充足的实务,让我感觉自己可以尽一份力,因为我的英语教学非常重视实务运用。积极培养学生成为有特色有专长的人才,拥有标准英文才能与国际接轨。我在这方面有热情,有方法,有经验。希望能够让学生们可以在全世界,发光发热。

个人从事大学英语教学二十三年,行政工作十五年。曾任台湾高雄海洋科技大学外语教育中心主任,台湾台南应用科技大学应用外语系主任与台湾海军军官学校外文系主任。教学经验丰富,行政资歷完整,参与各项课程规划,并屡屡获得教学优良教师奖。对事业有热情,对学生有耐心,对学校有贡献的心。希望学生都能够有扎实的根基,日后有光明的前程。

Life philosophy: To contribute myself to those who need my life wisdom, knowledge and expertise.

Having over 25-year teaching experience in six universities and being the chairperson in 3 made me not only an excellent teacher but a very effective and professional executive, supervisor and leader in the academic environment. I love to share the valuable experience and expertise with my students and colleagues.

I am a very patient and humorous teacher who love students as my own children.  I like youngsters very much and look forward to proving what they need in the world of English language and culture. If they don't follow me the first time in class, I will be very willing to use different ways to explain until they completely understand and I never feel tired. Using authentic materials or tests is my best choice to teach. Basically, I will employ some measurements to know my students' English proficiency and learning styles first and then decide which methods and materials are suitable for them.

My classes are both fun and educational. For example: by employing all kinds of daily life English such as major issues of traveling, housing,  job hunting, grocery & online shopping or even business communication in English conversation classes is a popular and practical way to teach English speaking. At Xiamen University, the ultimate goal of English teachers of The International College is to assist students to reach the ideal score of IELTS to go abroad to study successfully. How to teach well and make students cherish the opportunities of learning English becomes the vital mission. Through the test materials of IELTS, students can really immerse in the English-speaking environment, learning the Standard English well can make them explore the whole world much better, doing something meaningful and becoming a useful human being who is beneficial for the society, the country and the world.  

My teaching focuses on both fundamental grammar and pronunciation to advanced articles depending on various ability levels. My measurements of students’ achievement are both individual work and group oral and written presentation. The ultimate goal of my teaching is to make sure that all students can apply what they have learned at school into their life and workplace. I have been enjoying teaching and learning a lot and hopefully I can do so for many more years.
